Greetings, Members! Once again, we have tons of exciting new features to tell you about! Don't miss a single part of this email. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *~*~* Attention Writers! *~*~* http://www.FreelanceWriters.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turn your rating stars into $$$ as a freelance writer!!! Follow your stars to the revolutionary website where writers register their types of writing skills and topics of expertise in a global directory of freelance writers available for hire. Take the next step as a rising star and register today at: http://www.FreelanceWriters.com/writers_faqs.cfm ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :: Introducing Public Reviews :: Reviewing is an extremely important part of the Writing.Com community. Helpful, honest reviews assist our authors to improve their talents. Members now have the option of having their reviews included on the Public Reviews listing page. This page can be found by clicking Reviewing from within the site's main navigation or "Public Reviews" from within your Item Jumps pulldown menu. :: Rewarding Reviewers :: There is no doubt about it, high quality feedback is invaluable to writers and beneficial to everyone involved. If you see feedback on the Public Reviews page that was helpful to you or you appreciate the time spent helping another Author, you can recognize and reward the Author for a job well done! To award Gift Points to a Reviewer, simply choose the amount of GPs you'd like to award and click "Send!" This will produce a small popup window allowing you to include a comment with your awarded Gift Points. If you would like to send the reward anonymously, just click that option. When a member awards a reviewer with Gift Points using the Public Reviews page, Writing.Com also assigns 1 to 9 Reviewing Credits to the recipient. The amount of credits assigned is based upon the size of the Gift Point award. For more information, please see "Reviewing @ Writing.Com" ![]() :: Top 50 Reviewers :: By tabulating the Reviewing Credits of our members, Writing.Com ranks and displays the Top 50 Reviewers within our community. This list can be found from within the Public Reviews page. From the Top 25 Reviewers listing, you can view all Public Reviews that each member has given. Ranking is determined by combining the credits earned and the Reviewer Influence of those awarding Gift Points. Our Top 50 list consists of the most active and influential Reviewers on Writing.Com. :: Reviewer Influence :: Writing.Com has adopted a real world system of influence. Members who have received more Reviewing Credits than others are treated as having a higher influence within the system. In other words, members who have been awarded Gift Points for helpful reviews will have more influence than members who have not received an award. Essentially, we are automatically giving more credit to their opinion because other members have already assigned credit to them. For more information, please see "Reviewing @ Writing.Com" ![]() :: New Requirement For Promotion :: In line with our goal to promote reviewing within our community, we've added a new requirement to the future attaining of Preferred Authorship: - a minimum of 50 quality reviews given to a good mix of other members For more information regarding promotions to Preferred Author, please see: http://www.writing.com/main/faq#become_pref This new requirement applies to future promotions only and will not effect existing Preferred Authors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And don't forget to visit our sponsor: http://www.FreelanceWriters.Com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your continued support of Writing.Com, ~~ The StoryMaster ![]() ![]() & The StoryMistress ![]() ![]()

Greetings Members! This email comes with news of improvements to our Campfire Creative system, User Polls and Author Table Of Contents pages. An update on our recently ended contest, "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" ![]() -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turn your rating stars into $$$ as a freelance writer!!! http://www.FreelanceWriters.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow your stars to the revolutionary website where writers register their types of writing skills and topics of expertise in a global directory of freelance writers available for hire. Take the next step as a rising star and register today at: http://www.FreelanceWriters.com/writers_faqs.cfm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :: My Polls :: Our newest addition, the My Polls page, contains links to polls you have taken that have been recently updated by the owner or answered by other members. Included on the page are the detailed results of the 4 most recently taken or modified polls along with links to 26 more, for a total of up to 30 recent polls. You can find My Polls in your "Member Tools" pull down menu. :: Improvements To Campfire Creative Management :: Sometimes with busy schedules, members miss Campfire turn emails. To help keep track of a Campfire's flow, the Leader of a Creative can now be CC'd on each new turn. More importantly, we have moved the invitee management of Campfire Creatives to a separate Manage Campfire page. This split allows for the HTML pages to be much "lighter" and work more efficiently on your web browser. In the new Manage Campfire area, you'll find you can add new invitees and edit existing ones. The ability to change the order of the invitees within the Campfire is a brand new addition, as well. Leaders can also randomly re-order their invitees with two clicks. This helps to add to the variety and energy within a Campfire. :: New Table Of Contents Look :: The style of our Authors' Table Of Contents (TOC) pages has been dramatically improved. Using the black-bar heading we have implemented around the site, folders are more distinctively separated throughout the page. Using red links for Portfolio Folders and blue links for all other items makes navigating a TOC much easier. Remember that you can access any member's TOC from their public portfolio and you can access your own from your private portfolio. :: A "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" ![]() Our contest closed as scheduled with over 100 entries. All entries are currently being judged and we expect to announce the winners by January 31st. :: Motivation :: As the New Year presses onward, we hope our flurry of site enhancements serves as inspiration and motivation for you. One of our resolutions was to provide our members with even more tools and features so that you can follow through with your own writing resolutions. We hope you enjoy these latest changes! :: Stories.Com Product Going... :: All Stories.Com products are 50% off! Update: Only 5 Caps Remain & Writing Kits are SOLD OUT! http://www.Writing.Com/main/store We thank you for and appreciate your support of our Store!

Greetings, Members! We want to be the first to welcome you to 2003 @ Writing.Com! Please take a moment to read through this email as it is filled with important information on changes and improvements throughout our site. :: Writing Off A Few Changes :: As you'll notice, there are plenty of changes, with our new logo being the biggest. We've removed the bookshelf of "stories" and replaced it with a working desktop incorporating both writing and reading. The "Read" and "Write" pages have been replaced with easier to understand Reading and Writing screens. We have organized the Item Types on these pages to better help new members and visitors navigate and understand Writing.Com. We have also updated the coloring of itemicons, removing the old purple in favor of our new Red and Green. Item Types with Red icons are Writing.$ non-interactive formats. Green icons signify interactive items that are sure to involve the reader, in most cases getting them to do a little writing of their own. For a cleaner look, we moved the Site Navigation pulldown menus to the left side of the screen. For quicker access to the utilities you need, we've separated Authors Tools+ into its own pulldown. In addition, the IM Console link has been moved to its rightful place in the "Member Tools" menu. You will notice many other enhancements around the site. An improved color scheme, more uniformity among different areas on the site and an updated Gift Point and My Account area, just to name a few. Look around and you're sure to find many more! :: "Dear Me..." Contest With 1,000,000 GPs In Prizes :: Do you have big plans for yourself this year? Will you finally finish that story that's been haunting you for so long? Will you take that first step toward self-publishing your latest masterpiece? Set goals and resolutions for the new year and you could win big prizes!
:: Automatically Find and Replace Stories.Com with Writing.Com :: To help you quickly change references to Stories.Com within your portfolio, we've created an automatic Find and Replace function. This utility will search through your portfolio finding the five (5) most common references to Stories.Com and StoriesML. It will change them to Writing.Com and WritingML where applicable. You can run this utility by visiting the following URL: http://www.writing.com/main/my_portfolio.php?action=port_fnr Note: This function will not change the last modified time of any items. :: Don't Forget To Visit Our Sponsor :: http://www.FreelanceWriters.Com/ :: Thank you again for your support of Writing.Com :: We wish you and your family the best during this holiday season, and look forward to an exciting 2003, ~~ The StoryMaster ![]() ![]() & The StoryMistress ![]() ![]() |
